But anyway, as I was saying this update is aimed at getting ride of bad content sites. Basically one of the aims is to push relevant sites with good rich unique content higher up the SERP’s.

Well there has been a few people who have noticed that too many of 1 header tag can be a bad thing. This overuse of a header tag can not drop your site straight away but slowly lower your high rankings.

So,

Top tip of the day is spread your h tags better. For example,

H1 tag = 1 keyword
H2 tag = 2/3 keywords
H3 tags = 4 keywords

If you try where possible to achieve the above, google will see you in a more positive light. You have shown there are some of your products or services that are more influential than others.

Well I have been endlessly busy lately with work. This has been the main reson to be
honest that I have not posted. However this will change…

I am going to try and take a different approach with this blog. Try and stir it up a bit.

I am bored of the same old news appearing about the Internet marketing industry. We all
battle to be the first to discover features or algorithms that will get us recognised.

Well I don’t want to have to rush blog posts to be the first discoverer of a change in
google font or something like that. I want to be able to solve problems. Spot issues that
may prevent a website from ranking like it should do or solve the mystery of why a
website is ranking when it should not be.

There are people out there that want to be the best and get noticed for there ability to
bring forefront news to the industry well I want to be noticed for my problem solving
ability.

This is me trying to think outside of the box for blog posts.

What does this mean for the world of seo?

To be honest nothing much if your doing your seo campaign right.

People have been placing addresses on either pages or micro sites that link together for a while now as it is seen to be one of the best ways for geo-targeting.

Yes ok I have noticed some irregularities in the UK SERPS’ for example the way Halfords .ie site was ranking in the UK instead of .com with a UK HQ address.

I think that this was probably caused by the algorithm tweaks and tests and will probably been not seen again. Anyway the new feature will be seen on the left hand side in the menu where it will tell you what google believes your location is.

However if google gets your location wrong it will allow you to change it by entering it in a easy accessible entry box.

This now shows that google is trying to give the most relevant searches possible. This also means that google places will become of the biggest tools in the fight to be at the top of the SERPS’.

This question will continue to be asked as google throw spanners and hammers at it’s algorithm to confused and mislead us seo’s who are always trying to keep up with google.

Well I am half way through creating a little tool kit mostly for personal use but also to get the masses using it as well.

Anyway Julie of Julie seo asked me why use sub domains over domains with sub folders?

Simples….. I prefer sub domains.

It is a personal choice that I believe works better for me and better for separation. Sometimes even though you collect stuff together you need it to be seperate. Thus this is why his blog has been created.

What is right and what is wrong?

To be honest in SEO nothing is wrong just mis judged. Bit like landing a plan. Whether you hit the run way or go through the trees you are still technically landed.

So if it was me I would do the following…..

Stuff that is similar keep together in one domain. Best example is that BBC have just started to do that it there news site.

One big place where it all relates.

Makes sense if you think about it.

Stuff that is not so similar keep separate. Again an exempt would be wordpress.com the free blogging section of wordpress. Blogs of all different topics.

Why?

Well the company that I work for have decided that this SEO blog is good enough to be seen more as a guide and resource. I have therefore decided that I am going to start concentrating more on job related posts.

I bought a domain for my father a number of months ago but he decided that the blogging life was not for him. I therefore have decided to use this domain to my benefit. I will blogging on there about general stuff out side of work.

I will however be trying to link these two sites so that there is still a bit of fun within this blog as well.
